Happy Tuesday everyone!
I hope everyone had a lovely long weekend.
As Mrs. O was absent today, both the JK and SK classes were together.
We started the day with O’ Canada and the announcements in the gym. We then came back into the SK room and did our daily calendar, weather circle, and shared our weekend news with Penguin.
In math, we learned about the Penny and its importance. We sang along to Canada in My Pocket, a Canadian folk song on the Canadian coins. We passed around some pennies so that everyone could see one up close, and we also counted 100 pennies and discovered that 100 pennies are equivalent to One Dollar.
After recess, we had phonics. The SK class learned the ‘ORor’ sound today. We brainstormed some words as a large group and the SK’s worked on letter formation in their phonics books. The JK’s learned the ‘OAoa’ sound today. We sang along to Jolly Phonics. After the song, we brainstormed some ‘OAoa’ words.
We then moved on to topic. Today we reviewed the different types of patterns. After we reviewed some types of patterns and their names, everyone was split into three groups. In our groups, we were given different manipulatives to create the pattern core. Everyone then moved to the next station.
There was a pattern core ready for them, and they were to repeat the pattern. Once the pattern was repeated. Everyone was to create a new pattern core for the students who would come to their center next.
After lunch, Mr. Deaken took the JK and SK classes to the gym. Upon their return, Hollie read a story to her classmates.
We ended the day in French class with Mme. Villeneuve.
I hope everyone has a wonderful evening. See you all tomorrow.
