Welcome to Junior Kindergarten!

Hello to all JK and SK students to a new school year at The Maples Academy!
My name is Miss Elliott, and I am the Junior Kindergarten teacher for the 2017/18 school year. I am very excited to work with all the kindergarten students this year!

About Ms. Elliott
I am new to the Maples Academy this year! I have recently graduated from Nipissing University for concurrent education in the Primary/Junior division. I studied Child and Family Studies in my undergrad, and minored in visual arts. Prior to obtaining my teaching qualifications, I studied Early Childhood Education and Media Arts at Sheridan College. I have gained much experience working with younger children in childcare centres, after school programs and summer camps for the past several years. I have much passion for the arts including visual art, music, dance, and drama and will incorporate those skills into my kindergarten program.

I will be working in collaboration with the SK teacher to provide an enriching curriculum for your child. On a daily basis we will develop knowledge and skills in Mathematics, Phonics and Unit of Inquiry through the IB program. The instruction of Physical Education will be taught by Ms. Cranfield and French will be taught by Mme. Villeneuve.
