Tuesday, January 15

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I hope you are having a wonderful day.

We started our morning with O’ Canada and the announcements in the gym with everyone.

We then did our morning jobs. We did the attendance, how we are feeling, the daily calendar, and 100 days of school.

Next, we had Phonics. In Phonics we began by singing along to Jolly Phonics and then shaped the letter “Ff” using Play-Doh.







After recess, we had Topic. As a class we practiced naming different patterns. Students were then encouraged to create three of their own patterns using chart paper and pencil crayons.


After lunch, everyone went to Gym class with Ms. Cranfield.

Gym class was followed by poem selecting and choosing.

We ended the day with the SK class creating patterns by clapping, stomping, clicking, snapping, and tapping.

Please note that tomorrow, Wednesday, is the last day to send in a poem. On Friday we will be sending a copy of the poem home to be practiced at home.

Monday, January 14

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope you are having a great day.

We started our morning with O’ Canada and the announcements in the gym with everyone.

We then did our Monday morning jobs. We did the attendance, how we are feeling, the daily calendar, 100 days of school, and shared our weekend news with Rocky.

After recess, we had Phonics. We began the lesson by singing along to Jolly PhonicsNext, we brainstormed some worked that have the “Ff” sound, and ended with a rainbow letter activity.


In Topic, we continued learning about patterns. We started with pattern examples as a class. Next, everyone was in groups to create and share their patterns. Each group shared their patterns, and the remainder of the class was encouraged to follow along.

After lunch, everyone went to Gym class with Ms. Cranfield, followed by French class with Mme. Villeneuve.

We ended the day with story time.

Friendly reminder, to send in a poem by Wednesday, January 16. If you wish for us to pick one in class, please let me know so that we can do that in class. Selected poem copies will be sent home on Friday to be rehearsed at home on a daily basis.

Friday, January 11

Happy Friday everyone!

I hope you are enjoying the lovely sunshine we are having today.

We started our morning with O’ Canada and the announcements in the gym with everyone.

Next, we did our morning jobs. We did the attendance, how we are feeling, 100 days of school, and the daily calendar.

Friday’s are library days. Today we heard a story, told by Rocky, about all the planets in our solar system.

After recess, we had Show and Tell.

Show and Tell was followed by some Yoga.

After lunch, everyone went to Gym class with Ms. Cranfield.

We ended the day with Skating at the Alder Arena.

Thursday, January 10

Happy Thursday everyone!

I hope you are having a wonderful day.

We started our morning with O’ Canada and the announcements in the gym with everyone.

We then had Art class with Mrs. Doucette.



After Art class we went into the SK room to do our morning jobs. We did the attendance and how we are feeling.

After recess, we had Phonics. We began by singing Jolly Phonics and then worked on a letter formation activity.



Phonics was followed by Topic. We reviewed different types of patterns and the ways to name the patterns. Next, we sat in a circle and made patterns by clapping, stomping, and tapping.

After lunch, everyone went to Gym class with Ms. Cranfield, followed by French class with Mme. Villeneuve.

We ended the day with Drama class, showing emotions, with Miss. Giles.

Key Information: Tomorrow, Friday is our first Skating day of the year! We will be leaving the school at 1:45. Students are required to have their skates, hats, gloves, helmets, and any other equipment, at school. If you are meeting your child at the arena and choose to bring the equipment with you, you may do so. See you all tomorrow!

Wednesday, January 9

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I hope you are having a wonderful day.

We started our morning with O’ Canada and the announcements in the gym with everyone.

We then did our morning jobs. We did the attendance, how we are feeling, the daily calendar, and 100 days of school.

After our morning jobs, we had Phonics.

After recess, we had Topic. We watched a video with an activity on patterning. The video was paused simultaneously to talk about the patterns we saw, and we named the kinds of patterns we saw. The patterns were named using numbers and letters. We ended the lesson with a pattering pencil control activity.




After lunch, everyone went to Gym class with Ms. Cranfield.
Gym class was followed by a Yoga session in the classroom.

We ended the day with a story read by Mrs. Wittworth.

Key Information: A letter was sent home today in the agenda bags with information regarding the Oral Competition. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

We started our morning with O’ Canada and the announcements in the gym with everyone.

Next, we had our IB Assembly for the Month of January. This month’s learner profile is “Risk-Taker” and the attitude is “Enthusiasm”. Followed by house games.


After the assembly, we came back to do our morning jobs.

Recess was followed by Phonics. We began by singing along to Jolly Phonics. Next, we made the letter “Ll” using Play-Doh, followed by some choosing time.




After lunch, everyone went to Gym class with Ms. Cranfield, followed by French class with Mme. Villeneuve.

We ended the day with a story read by Mrs. Witworth.

Monday, January 7 - Happy New Year & Welcome Back

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope you all had a fantastic holiday break.

We started our morning with O’ Canada and the announcements in the gym with everyone.

We then did our Monday morning jobs. We did the attendance, how we are feeling, the daily calendar, 100 days of school, and shared our weekend news with Rocky.

After recess, we had Phonics. We began by singing along to Jolly Phonics. Next, we learned how to write the letter “Ll” and then brainstormed words that start with the “Ll” sound. We ended Phonics with a rainbow letter activity. 



After lunch, everyone went to Gym class with Ms. Cranfield.

Gym class was followed by Topic. We have started our new unit which is cross-curricular with Math, “Patterns, Patterns Everywhere!” Everyone shared where they have seen or do see patterns on a daily basis. We wrote out everyone’s answers and put them on our bulletin board for everyone to see. We ended the lesson by lining up the different pattern forms. For example; Girl-Boy-Girl-Boy-Girl-Boy-etc., Girl-Girl-Boy-Boy-Girl-Girl-Boy-Boy, Girl-Girl-Boy-Girl-Girl-Boy.


We ended the day by reading a story called, "Franklin is Bossy". After the story, we talked about what it means to be bossy and how Franklin overcame that.
