Wednesday, June 20

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I hope you all had a great day. We started our day with O’ Canada in the SK room. Next, we had our daily calendar, weather circle, how we are feeling, and 100 days of school.

For Topic today, we made animal masks to compliment our UOI. Students were given options of animals and were encouraged to colour and decorate the animal of their choice.

After recess, we worked on our IB binders. Students chose items they would like to put in their binders to showcase their best work, what they worked the hardest on, and what they would like to improve on.

After lunch, the students gathered the work they did throughout the year and cleaned out their cubbies.

Packing up was followed by a drum circle led by Mrs. Demetriou.




















We ended the day in French class with Mme. Villeneuve.

Just a friendly reminder, tomorrow, Thursday, is toy day. Students are encouraged to bring a maximum of two toys which they wish to play with during the day.

Tuesday, June 19

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful day.

We started our morning with O’ Canada in SK room.

We then headed to Fiddlehead Care Farm for our field trip. On our trip, we got a tour of the garden which had many different kinds of vegetables. Next, we had a tour of the animals. We saw cows, a pig and chickens/ hens. After snack, the children went on a scavenger hunt. They were split into 8 different groups. After we had lunch, we came back to the school.

Once we returned, everyone went to Gym class with Ms. Cranfield. 

Gym class was followed by a snack time and then recess.

We ended the day by working on our I.B. Binders.

We would like to thank all our parent drivers.

Monday, June 18

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

We started our Beach Day Spirit Day O’ Canada and the announcements in the gym with everyone.

We then came back to the SK room for our Monday morning jobs. We had our daily calendar, weather circle, how we are feeling, 100 days of school, as well as, sharing our weekend news with Penguin. 

After recess, everyone went to gym class with Ms. Cranfield.

Next, we had the remainder of our Topic Summative presentations, followed by Jolly Phonics, and identifying items with a sound the students were given.

After lunch, we worked on our UOI binders.

We ended the day in French class with Mme. Villeneuve.

Just a friendly reminder, tomorrow is our FiddleHead Car Farm trip.
-         Fiddlehead Care Farm addition information:
o   Students are asked to dress according to the weather – rainboots, sunscreen, sunglasses etc.
o  Packed lunch needed.
o  Booster seats needed for transportation.
o  Thank you to our parent drivers – Mrs. Braford, Mrs. Oakley, Mrs. Tremble-Taylor, Mrs. Rezek, Ms. Jen, Mrs. Pintwala, Ms. Hyland, Mrs. Demzcur, Ms. Jackson, Mrs. Blackwell and Mrs. Hartway.

Friday, June 15

Happy Friday everyone!

I hope you are all having a wonderful day!

We started our morning with O’ Canada and the announcements in the gym with everyone.

Next, we did our morning jobs. We had our daily calendar, weather circle, how we are feeling, and 100 days of school.

In Math class today, we continued to practice writing our numbers.

After recess, we read two stories.

In Phonics today we had Show and Share. The JK class brought in an object representing a word they wrote in class this week by joining sounds.
































After lunch, everyone went to gym class with Ms. Cranfield.

Gym class was followed by, students organizing their service learning food drive items for the local food bank.



















Before we went out for our final break, we had Birthday Circle for the July and August Birthdays.

We ended the day with the completion of Animal Habitat summative presentations.

Thursday, June 14

Happy Thursday everyone!

I hope you are having a wonderful day.

We started our morning with O’ Canada and the announcements in the SK room. Next, we had our daily calendar, weather circle, how we are feeling, and 100 days of school.

In Math class today, we worked on a counting and matching numbers activity. Students who completed the activity quickly were invited to work on activities they have not completed.

After recess, we had Phonics. We continued to join sounds together to make words.

In Topic, we began our summative presentation, which were continued after gym class.

After lunch, everyone had Gym class with Ms. Cranfield.

When everyone returned from Gym, we had a few more of the summative presentations. The remaining ones will be presented tomorrow.

We ended the day in French class with Mme. Villeneuve.

Just a reminder: Tomorrow, Friday, is the July and August Birthday Circle.

Wednesday, June 13

Happy Casual Day everyone!

We started our morning with O’ Canada and the announcements in the gym with everyone.

Next, we came to the SK room and did our morning jobs. We had our daily calendar, weather circle, how we are feeling, and 100 days of school.

In Math class today, we began with our “Today’s Number Is…” activity. Next, everyone was given two numbers on a card. Using the cards and some manipulatives, students counted out the number of items specified on the cards. Once everyone counted out their items, we walked around the classroom to share what we did with our peers.

The SK class did some skip counting and addition in Math class today. 




















































































































After recess, everyone went to gym class with Ms. Cranfield.

Gym class was followed by Phonics. In Phonics today, we sang Jolly Phonics followed by writing two words in our Phonics Books.

The SK class worked on their "U_E" sound activity. 

After lunch, we practiced for our summative presentations which are tomorrow. As the students were comfortable with how far they have come, in the last 20 minutes we did our colour song, and Mrs. Whitworth read a Father’s Day book to everyone.










































































We ended the day in Music class.  We used rhyming words to fill in the song lyrics, "Down by the bay where the watermelons grow, back to my home I dare not go. For if I do, my mother will say, have you ever seen a Goat riding a Boat, down by the bay". Next, we sand the Old Macdonald song, students named animals which they have researched for their summative for Topic. We ended music class by creating patterns using instruments, clapping, and stomping.

-         Tonight is the PTA BBQ from 3:30 – 5:30
-         Thursday and Friday are the days designated for our Summative Presentation for Topic
-         Friday is the July and August Birthday Circle

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

We started our morning with O’ Canada and the announcements in the gym with everyone.

Next, we came to the SK room and had our morning calendar, weather circle, 100 days of school, and how we are feeling.

In Math class today, we worked on our number formation from 10 to 20. Students worked on a similar activity as last week.

After recess, we had Phonics. We sang the entire “Jolly Phonics” song to begin the lesson. As an extension activity, students sounded out and wrote words in their Phonics Books.

Next, we had Topic. We continued to put together our habitat summative boards.

After lunch, everyone went to Gym class with Ms. Cranfield.

Gym class was followed by, a continuation of Topic. Students continued to complete their boards and practice what they will be saying in their presentation.

We ended the day in French class with Mme. Villeneuve.
